I have no uterus but
still get a discharge?"

Dear Jacqui:
Hello I have a question and I need to know if it is a serious problem or if I need not worry. I had a hysterectomy several years ago and expirenced vaginal dryness but the last year or so I have had this odd discharge. There is no smell and it is greenish in color I thought if there was no uterus there could be no discharge. Please help in my delimma is this normal or is there something wrong.
Peggy

Dear Peggy:
The fact that you had a hysterectomy does not mean that you cannot have other vaginal infections. Please see a gynecologist or your general practitioner to ascertain what is going on. It is hard to diagnose your condition from the description you gave me. But caution in this case is certainly advisable.

A discharge can be due to irritation or an ongoing infection, it doesn't have to be serious and in most cases can be brought under control in just a few days with the proper medication. The important matter is to diagnose it correctly. Best wishes.

Jacqui
