My girl friend's doctor doesn't want her
to use soap in the vaginal area, why?"

Dear Jacqui:
I have a question that maybe you can help me with. My girlfriend has a constant odor coming from her vagina. It's noticeable if we in engage in oral sex or during intercourse (also through some means of foreplay). She told me that a doctor told her not to put soap inside herself because she can get a yeast infection.

I have been with quite a few girls, and I must say that the ones that washed themselves thoroughly have had literally no smell. Did my girlfriend receive some bad information.
Jake

Dear Jake:
No, your girlfriend did not get bum advice from her doctor. It is correct, sitting in a bubble bath or washing the vaginal area with soap often cause yeast infections. But that doesn't mean she shouldn't wash. The vaginal area needs special care and more moisture than the face. However, she needs to use a pH balanced non soap wash.

It is exactly for that reason that we developed the Very Private pH balanced Body Wash which is fragrance free, dye free, gynecologist tested and approved so women can use it to wash their most sensitive areas of the body. We have many men using it too because it leaves no residue on the skin but cleanses really well.

If the disturbing vaginal smell lingers, even after your girlfriend has improved her personal hygiene routine, there is a possibility that she has a vaginal infection and needs a check up.

Jacqui
