Articles: Vaginal Exercisers

Women use vaginal exercisers to improve vaginal muscular strength, specifically strengthening the pubococcygeal muscles. This muscle group (pc muscles) support the pelvic organs in a similar way a sling works. Loss of muscular strength is due to childbirth, lack of use, aging, hormonal changes and other medical conditions.
The pelvic organs are responsible for several functions:
Support of the uterus, bladder and rectum
Control of urine flow
Contracting during sexual orgasm

Primarily women use a vaginal exerciser for two conditions:
a) reduce stress incontinence
b) improve vaginal sensitivity to heighten sexual response.
c) Strengthen pelvic floor muscles after childbirth

There are many products available, both intra-vaginal devices and others that are used without insertion. Pricing varies widely from $29.99 to $149.95. All the devices claim to be effective but little data is available. Discussions with medical professionals indicate that the key to effective treatment is proper placement of the medical device during use. If the device is not positioned correctly and stays in place during the exercise routine, the appropriate muscles are not affected. We found that many women have a difficult time placing the exercise device and then keeping it in place during use. Consequently they did not experience the expected improvement that is promised and abandon the program.

We believe that the following features should be incorporated to facilitate proper placement and optimal exercise program to yield muscular improvement:
And intra-vaginal device should have a “stopper” so that it is placed correctly and is easier to control during exercise.
It should incorporate multiple levels of resistance (beginner, medium, advanced) to achieve maximum results over time.
Springs should be enclosed for safety.

It should include a clicker device so the user can follow an exact program advised by physician. (It can be a simple hand-clicker or electronic device).
It should be used with a vaginal “lubricant/moisturizer” for comfortable insertion and to protect delicate vaginal tissue.

It should be easy to clean after each usage to protect against bacterial build-up.
