"I just got married and I'm
trying to get pregnant
so I'm wondering what's the best way
to clean myself down there?"

Dear Jacqui,
I've just got married and am trying to get pregnant. My problem is with what to "clean" myself. Sometimes the semen rushes right out of me shortly after having sex and sometimes it stays inside for the rest of the day. This is unpleasant because it blobs out unexpectedly, plus the longer it lingers in my vagina, the semen seems to go "rancid" producing a very bad smell. Condoms are so much tidier, but if I want children do I have to put up with the messiness of semen? Lisa

Dear Lisa,
I suggest you try to void after sex, which will: a) protect your urethra b) let the semen naturally escape just by pressing a little.

Then you should use lukewarm water and splash the vaginal area with it. Please avoid all scented products, colored or plant additive products. It is best to use a ph balanced soap or body wash such as Very Private which is extremely mild and contains no fragrance or any plant or dye additives and is free of allergens.

Many women are sensitive to male semen, including, it seems, you. They actually experience an allergic reaction, which produces a strong odor after ejaculation. Your own body produces something called "amines" in response to the male ejaculate deposit in the vagina. The Very Private pH balanced Body Wash contains an anti-fungal and anti-microbial ingredient to help avoid vaginal irritations. It should also take care of the odor.Best wishes in getting pregnant.
