"I've been getting a chronic
yeast infection for 2 years,
and it's getting worse!"

Dear Jacqui,
I really hope you can help me. I've been getting chronic yeast infections for 2 years and its getting worse. I went to my GYN. She told me I had some infections. I keep asking her if my husband could be transmitting it to me and she said no. She prescribed some medicine, which is supposed to clear up anything. I don't know what else to do. I'm desperate.

We want to get pregnant soon and I'm afraid to because I keep getting them at least two to three times a month. I feel my GYN is basically ignoring my questions for concern. What should I do? Thank you so much for your time and your wonderful web site! Marge

Dear Marge,
I can understand your frustration well, and I have a couple of suggestions:

Anytime you are not happy with a medical professional's treatment, it may be a good idea to seek a second opinion. Doctors, like all people, approach problems differently. Some are more thorough. Some are willing to give you more attention. Even though they have more medical knowledge than you, they are not infallible.

Upon receiving your letter, we have checked again with our gynecological advisor as regards to new treatments or new diagnostic tests. She tells us, as we have known, that recurring yeast infections are problematic because they are person-specific. In other words, not every yeast infection medication works for every patient. She believes, as we, that a healthy vaginal flora and a healthy vaginal pH is key to vaginal health.

Many vaginal treatments disturb and/or may even destroy the healthy vaginal flora and thus facilitate the reoccurrence of an infection. To that end we propose that you may wish to take special care with your personal hygiene routine: Please avoid sitting in scented bubble bath or washing with scented soaps or products containing chemical colors or plant additives. Do not use douching or vaginal sprays. Avoid all vaginal lubricants or moisturizers that are not FDA approved or contain fragrance, flavors or plant additives.

These ingredients often destroy the healthy vaginal pH and then may leave you vulnerable to infection. As regards your husband, it is rare but we have heard of cases where a couple passed the fungal infection back and forth.

Finally, quite a number of women have reported to us that since using the pH balanced Very Private Body Wash daily they have been successful in no longer getting yeast infections. We cannot guarantee that it will work for you; however, many women suffering from recurrent yeast infections reported that since using the product daily they are problem free. You can find the Very Private pH balanced Body Wash on our website, www.veryprivate.com under products.

Of course, if you currently have an active infection, it needs to be cleared with the appropriate medication at the same time as you start using Body Wash. We also recommend that you should take an acidophilus capsule daily, which may indeed help to re balance your vaginal flora. Hopefully this combined program will be helpful.

Jacqui
