"I have bumps over the
outside of my vagina
and I've been itching a lot lately?"

Dear Jacqui,
I have bumps over the outside of my vagina. I also have been itching a lot lately and it's very uncomfortable. My discharge has also become thicker and has a slight odor. I'm not very sexually active and I haven't had intercourse for several months. What is it? What should I do?
Candice

Dear Candice,
The symptoms you describe suggest that you have had an infection for some time, which might have become more aggravated. This may especially be the case since there are now symptoms of itchiness and smell, which point to a yeast infection or an infection called Trichomoniasis. In either case, you should seek medical treatment to be sure that it is properly diagnosed. If untreated, either of these infections can lead to more serious health conditions.

I also recommend that you take special care with vaginal hygiene. Only use a pH balanced soap or Body Wash such as the Very Private pH balanced Body Wash. It has an ingredient to help protect you against vaginal irritations. Avoid by all means products that are scented, contain plant or vitamin additives or chemical colors.

These kinds of ingredients tend to destroy the healthy vaginal pH and balance and thus cause vaginal irritations or infections. Also, I suggest you read our info on yeast infections and Trichominiasis on www.veryprivate.com under advice/vaginal health. Click on "Frequently Asked Questions." They can give you plenty of helpful suggestions. Hope you are better soon.
