My 45 year-old wife rarely has an orgasm. Only after hours of vibratory stimulation does she come close to having one. As a result she becomes angry, depressed and has a low self esteem. Although she has a high sex drive, she cannot reach completion. Please help. Doug

Has your wife ever had her hormone levels checked? I believe she ought to have a thorough gynecological examination first. The symptoms that she experiences can be physiological, but possibly there is also a psychological element present that prohibits her from reaching orgasm. So the way to get to the problem is by elimination of causes. At 45 she could be in menopause which is yet another element that could possibly contribute to the dilemma.

The other idea that occurs, have you two ever had a really open and extended conversation about your sexual life? The more you understand about each other sexually, discuss what each of you really likes, how to be touched, kissed, stroked, detail by detail, you may just break down some barriers that are part of the complications. If the medical tests don't yield any clarity, I suggest you see a counselor to help you overcome this hurdle. I have heard many similar problems and for the most part they can be solved successfully.
