"Can breast secretions cause future
problems when I get pregnant?"

Dear Jacqui,
Hi, my breasts secrete a clear watery substance when my boyfriend sucks, or bites them. It has happened several times. Will this interfere with ever being able to breast feed my children later on. Thank you,
Dona

Dear Dona,
Yours is not an unusual case. Many women produce a small amount of secretion when their nipples or breasts are stimulated. It is a natural occurrence and should not frighten you or make you feel embarrassed. If it happens during intimacy it is part of the sexual response of your body and many men are very excited by this response.

It should not have any relevance to your being able to breast-feed your future baby. If, however, it happens on other occasions and not during intimacy, then you should discuss it with your gynecologist. As you may have experienced during one of your past gynecological visits, the doctor usually pinches your nipple and ask you about nipple discharge. This is a simple diagnostic test to rule out any negative health condition that may exist.
