Press Release: Scientist Proposes New Theory of Aging
The new theory, proposed by Ronald D. Lee, Ph.D., of University of California, Berkeley, suggests that natural selection favors animals capable of devoting energy and resources to insuring survival of the next generation. After birth, all mammals including primates, all birds, many insects and some fish nurture their offspring.

The CDC addresses a wide range of reproductive health issues, with the overall goal of preventing illnesses and deaths. The CDC also works to promote lifestyle choices, behaviors and environments that safeguard reproductive health.

PPFA is a voluntary family planning and reproductive health organization operating more than 900 clinics that provide contraceptive services, gynecological services, infertility therapy, pregnancy testing and counseling, STD diagnosis, abortions, and sterilization services. Its health information line offers pamphlets, brochures and posters for little or no cost.

SIECUS serves as a clearinghouse for authoritative sex information for professionals of all disciplines. The SIECUS Information Service and Mary S. Calderone Library (noncirculating) include thousands of books, curricula, periodicals, pamphlets and files dating from 1964, and are open to the public. Staffers will also conduct searches by phone.

San Francisco Sex Information is a free information and referral switchboard providing anonymous, accurate, non-judgmental information about sex. If you have a question about sex, SFSI's volunteers will either answer it or refer you to someone who can. SFSI also takes questions on its Web page.
