Studying Girls Not Homework

Dear Jacqui,
I'm enrolled in the business school here at my local university. I'm taking quite a heavy course load but I find that my mind really isn't on school work but rather on how many girls I can get a date with and get in bed with.

I'm 24 years old and I have been like this since I can remember. I sometimes go from one girl's dorm room to another. I tell them that I have to go study when I leave them to hunt down the next conquest. Really what I am trying to prove is what a stud I am. Is this normal for a guy my age and my high level of intelligence (my grade point average is 4.0).
Mike

Dear Mike,
Intellectual ability has nothing to do with emotional maturity or security. The fact that you enjoy the hunt and also having sex with different women is one thing. Your admission that you want to prove yourself continually, what a stud you are, is quite a different issue.

Have you ever asked yourself what it is, exactly, that you are trying to prove? Who are you trying to impress? I suspect there is a gaping whole of insecurity within you. Collecting sexual trophies might give you a quick fix but promiscuity has its prize. It's a good sign, however, that you are beginning to ask yourself some responsible questions. I suggest you sign up for a few sessions with the school's counseling service.
