"I experience intense pain in my uretha
when I drink alcohol and have intercourse"

Dear Jacqui,
I'm a man and I've had this problem since I started becoming sexually active. When I drink any amount of alcohol and have intercourse, after ejaculation I have intense pain in my urethra. It's not a burning feeling more of a painful squirming feeling. If I drink a lot of water the pain goes away after urinating a few times. I've asked doctors but never got straight answers. It gets in the way of being intimate with my wife, and she's concerned for me too. I sure would like to know why this happens to me it's quite painful. Thanks Ms. Brandwynne, sincerely, James

Dear James,
You write that you have asked different doctors about your symptoms. Have you actually had an examination by a urologist? There is a possibility that you have an adverse allergic reaction after consumption of alcohol, which happens to quite a few people.

How quickly do you have sex after drinking? Does it occur always occur, even if you have wine a few hours before sexuality? I can deeply understand that both of you are concerned. I'm quite sure that there is a definitive explanation for your problem.

But it requires a medical examination and possibly a couple of tests for a doctor to make a diagnosis. Be sure to be more precise when talking to a doctor. Mention when exactly the symptoms occur, what you drank, white wine, red wine or hard liquor to help him in understanding the issue. I am glad you wrote. Now I hope you'll take the next step and have a check-up and proper treatment so that you can be free of the problem and enjoy full and pleasurable sexuality with your wife.

Jacqui
